“I grew up in church every Sunday, came to know Christ at the age of 17, and within a year had left the church. To me, there was no reason to go to church. It was boring. It was irrelevant to my life. So I stopped going. After two years outside the church, someone finally invited me to go again. The first time I went, I knew something was different about this church. They talked about things I actually cared about. The people were actually excited about God. There was a sense of acceptance, even for people who weren’t ‘churchy.’

“Two years later, God began to birth in me a vision to go into ministry that eventually led me to start a church in Fayetteville, AR.”

Patrick has a Bachelor of Science degree from Oklahoma State University and spent two and a half years working in the oil industry before moving to Arkansas to plant Evolution Church. Patrick is also the most competitive slow-pitch softball pitcher in the history of the game, holding command of five different pitches that he’s willing to throw in any count (two different knuckleballs, a fastball, a changeup and a curveball). He also once was thrown out of a church-league softball game for telling the umpire that he was “out of his league.”
